This course is designed to support you to stop hiding behind what you think you should be doing.
This course is for you if you've ever thought:
"This is not for people like me"
"Someone else will do it"
"This makes me uncomfortable, but I don't want to make a fuss"
Speaking up can be hard
🤔 Do you worry how people will react?
🤔 And then get lost in worrying about what they will think of you?
🤔 Do you Get so caught up in trying to do the right thing that sometimes you end up doing nothing?
🤔 Or do you just sometimes wonder when it is your turn?
Does this sound like you?
Tired of knowing people need better
But forgetting you're one of those people?
-
"Someone should do something about this"
-
"I don't think he should speak to people like that"
-
"Why do I seem to be the only one at work who wants to take a lunchbreak?"
What does showing up for yourself even look like?
It can be hard to imagineost of probably think abou
Most of us can probably think about what it might be like to show up for someone else, but for ourselves it feels too bold, too brash, too showy.
And I want to let you know that this narrative has been used for a long time for people socialised as women or AFAB to keep people in their place and not make a fuss. And if more of us are going to receive equal treatment, it is going to take some of us making a fuss.
Even if you don't believe it could be possible for you right now, you can take some steps which help support you.
Navigating our needs is tough, especially in a culture which promotes and glorifies burnout.
Especially when the bills still need to be paid.
Especially when your friends are saying you don't have time for them.
Especially when relationships feel strained because there is just not enough of you to go around.
This course is designed to get you from worry to confidence.
Do you just need a bit of certainty
That if you stick your neck out, things are going to be ok?
...Or maybe you feel like you'd rather not take up space, and someone else will probably say that thing?
...Or maybe you've noticed something up at work, but the person doing it is not likely to take it well, so it's probably best to keep quiet?
- And then there is the dishes
- and the whattsapp notifications
- and that mate who you have had to cancel on twice already
- and the family stuff
- and the life admin
- and aren't your houseplants looking a bit neglected
- and when someone asks you if you've been watching that latest series on TV, it makes you want to explode.
If you're anything like me, there just always seems to be some more things that need you to be the one to do the work or make the point and it gets exhausting
You deserve a life where you get to focus on yourself and not be the only person who is speaking up.
But we are where we are, and right now, as it looks like no one else is riding on up, we're going to have to learn how to show up for ourselves.
When someone says you need stand up for yourself do you immediately think of a load of 'Yeah Buts'?
And what does that even mean?
